Creating DNS Records

General

The Domain Name System (DNS) is one of the most important services in the IT network. Its main task is to respond to requests for name resolution.

In analogy to request the contact information to the DNS from a host name (the name of a machine noticeable for people on the internet) - for example www.example.org - as a response for the associated IP address (the "Port Number" on the Internet) - for example, an IPv4 address like to call 192.12.0.10 or an IPv6 address as 2001: db7: 83d3: 8d1: 1329:8 a2f: 073:4773

Creating DNS-Record

In EUserv Customer, you have the ability to create the different types of DNS records. To do this, you will select your first domain of contract for which you wanted to create the DNS records.

Once you have selected your domain contract, then you click on the menu item "DNS Management" under domain.

Creating A-Record

Now you can see the surface of the DNS records on. Here you can now create the DNS record. Make sure that in "Domain Name:" and selected desired domain is displayed.

In the "resolved value (host name, such as" www "):" Now enter the desired value. A "*" stands for a wildcard entry, which means that all entries will be forwarded prior to your domain (eg xyz.meinedomain.de) that you specify on the IPv4 address. In this example we use the IPv4 address 127.0.0.1 (note: the IPv4 address 127.0.0.1 does not work, but is the localhost address of each computer and is used here only as an example). Now have someone xyz.meinedomain.de one, he gets on the server of the IPv4 address 127.0.0.1 is assigned (meinedomain.de). Thus we can ensure that the visitor will be redirected to the server that you have defined under 127.0.0.1. (Eg for landing pages).

Enter in this field the famous "www", so visitors who enter www.meinedomain.de be successfully forwarded to you defined under www.meinedomain.de server. However, should a visitor have the "www", he will not come to your server and lands on an error page.

'Objective (hostname, IPv4 address, etc.): "You must enter the desired IPv4 address should be on the Redirected (eg 127.0.0.1).

For "TTL (in seconds, default 86400):" (is automatically set to 86400) and "Priority (MX and SRV):" (from A records not required), you need not make any entries.

Your EUserv Customer should now look like this:

or so:

Datei:Dns-a-record-anlegen_www-572x.png

After you create an entry for each store to save your entries. Twice DNS records created should be deleted.

Creating AAAA-Record

As the Internet world grows ever faster, ever more IPv4 addresses are required and only limited still available, they have created with the IPv6 successor.

To conduct in such a IPv6 address further, it requires an extra record, since the A-standard is no longer in this work. For it serves AAAA.

The AAAA record thus has the same function as an A record, but for redirects to IPv6 addresses required. For an AAAA record, please take the input analog front to an A record.

Creating MX-Record

An MX record is responsible for the information, the address at which a mail server to a domain or subdomain is reachable (MX = Mail Exchange).

Thus, the messages reach to match your domain and your mail server. To a possible disturbance at the mail server, or a subdomain in the wrong email address to counteract, it is advisable to set multiple MX records and assign a priority.

With the MX record, so you can define which messages are routed where, so that different subdomains are possible (mail@meinedomain.de - the part after the @ is defined by the MX record).

A mail server on your domain wants to send a mail check to only the MX record with the lowest priority (eg eins.meinedomain.de, priority 10) and then, if the first is not reachable, the other MX records (eg two. meinedomain.de, priority 50th ..). Thus, a mail that the first mail server could not be delivered, and the second sent the mail addressed to you will not be lost.

Please note that it is imperative to specify a domain because at MX records can not be used with IP addresses and any wildcards ("*") can!
